Veteran Funeral Services

A Veteran funeral service honours those who fought and served for their country. Here at NC Funeral Directors, we provide funerals for veterans across Lancashire UK, from our offices in Blackpool, Preston, Fleetwood, and Cleveleys.

It doesn’t matter if the deceased was on active duty or not, a military funeral is a burial rite for a soldier, marine, sailor or airman, a veteran, or other prominent military figures or heads of state.

As the nation’s way of showing gratitude and paying final tribute to a veteran’s honourable military service, a full veteran funeral incorporates a number of ceremonial traditions. Our team has the knowledge and experience needed to organise a veteran funeral that mark the passing of a veteran in the most dignified and respectful way.

What is a Veteran Funeral?

Veteran funerals take many forms and are seen as a poignant way of paying respect to men and women who have died in active service. Veterans funerals honour people who have served their country, however have since left the service.

What is Included in Our Veteran Funeral Package?

Please note that we also waive our professional fees for Active Service Personnel Funerals.

Our veteran funeral package includes the following:

  • Standard Bearers – Our standard bearers will usually precede the coffin as a mark of respect to the deceased. This is a poignant part of any military funeral
  • Coffin Flag
  • The Last Post – The Last Post is usually performed on a bugle as the coffin is lowered into the ground or the crematorium curtain is drawn

There are a number of different organisations and support networks that may be able to help with the funeral costs of war veterans, and those who died in active service. You can access information and support points online. To find out more, please ask our team or visit Royal British Legion & SSAFA.

We also have lots of experience in conducting funerals for those in the police and fire services. We recognise that, on these occasions, it means an awful lot for family, friends, and colleagues to attend and show their respects.

We’re more than happy to organise a funeral that helps celebrate the deceased’s passion for their career and celebrates their line of duty in the most special way.
