What is a Direct Cremation?
It is a simple and respectful ceremony for those who wish, for whatever reason, not to have an open service for family and friends during the cremation.
As with the traditional cremation service, all our staff are uniformed and a procession from our funeral home to the crematorium will take place. The oak coffin is led down the crematorium aisle to your chosen background music. It is then placed on the catafalque as with any other service. We carry out this service with the utmost respect and dignity to the deceased. More details can be found on What is a Direct Cremation.
Why Might Someone Choose a Direct Cremation?
There are plenty of circumstances why people choose a direct cremation. It is the most affordable option, but often, people choose this service for a variety of reasons.
- Some people have already arranged their own unique service outside of the crematorium, which celebrates the deceased’s life
- The deceased may have lost touch with their close family or not have any close family left
- Sometimes the deceased may have requested this kind of service prior to their death. It could be something which, for whatever reason, they preferred.
- Due to family dynamics, it is difficult having one joint ceremony. Often family members will choose their own unique way to remember the deceased instead.
If a direct cremation is something you are thinking of for your loved one and you would like to know more, just give us a call on 01253 420 450.
